Academic Integrity Policy

Nucleus University School of Dentistry is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of
academic integrity to ensure fairness, honesty, and ethical behavior among its Doctor of Dental
Surgery (DDS) program students. This policy serves to uphold these standards and delineate
procedures for addressing violations thereof.

Scope
This policy applies to all students enrolled in the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) program at
Nucleus University School of Dentistry.

Policy
Students enrolled in the DDS program at Nucleus University School of Dentistry are expected to
actively participate in their education and patient care with honesty, civility, and integrity. Any
act of academic dishonesty, including aiding another student in such actions or failing to report
academic misconduct, is considered a violation of this policy.

Policy Violations
The following actions are strictly prohibited under this policy:
- Cheating, plagiarism, or any attempt to gain an unfair academic advantage.
- Alteration of academic documents or transcripts.
- Unauthorized access to materials before their intended availability.
- Assisting others in gaining an unfair academic advantage.
- Research misconduct.
Students are obligated to report any known or suspected instances of academic misconduct.

Procedure
If academic misconduct is suspected, the faculty member overseeing the relevant course will
promptly review the case with the student, if feasible. If academic misconduct is determined, the
faculty member, in consultation with the respective course chair, may choose to resolve the matter
directly with the student. Alternatively, the case may be referred to the course chair for further
investigation.

Hearings
The course chair assigned to the case will conduct an inquiry to gather relevant information. If
the evidence is deemed sufficient and the alleged conduct falls within the scope of this policy, the
case will proceed to resolution.
The respondent will have an opportunity to respond to the allegations and present evidence.
Based on the preponderance of evidence, the course chair will determine responsibility and issue
appropriate sanctions if warranted.

Appeals
The respondent may appeal the course chair's decision regarding sanctions within five (5) days of
receiving the outcome notice. Appeals must be submitted in writing to the Dean of the School of
Dentistry, whose decision is final.

Sanctions
Sanctions for academic misconduct may include but are not limited to:
- Formal warning
- Probation
- Suspension
- Expulsion
Sanction severity will depend on the nature of the misconduct, the student's academic history,
and other relevant factors, at the discretion of the course chair.

Records
All academic sanctions imposed on students will be recorded in their academic files.
