Leave of Absence and Student Withdrawal Policy
Updated on Wednesday 13th of March 2024, 02:45:39 PM
Nucleus University School of Dentistry Aruba (NUSOD) recognizes that students may encounter
personal, medical, or other significant challenges that necessitate a temporary departure from
their studies. To accommodate these situations, NUSOD provides clear procedures for requesting
a Leave of Absence (LOA) and for formal withdrawal from the university. This policy ensures that
students can make informed decisions about their academic paths while preserving their ability
to return and complete their studies when ready.

Leave of Absence (LOA)
- Eligibility and Conditions:
Students in good academic standing may apply for an LOA
for reasons including but not limited to health issues, family emergencies, military service,
or other personal circumstances that significantly interfere with their ability to continue
their studies.
- Application Process:
- Students must submit a written LOA request to the Office of Student Affairs,
outlining the reason(s) for the leave and the expected duration.
- Supporting documentation (e.g., medical certificates, military orders) should
accompany the request.
- The application must be approved by the Dean of Student Affairs and, if relevant,
the financial aid office to discuss the impact on scholarships or financial aid.
- Duration:
The standard LOA is granted for a maximum of one academic year. Extensions
may be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to university policies.
- Re-enrollment:
Students returning from an LOA must notify the Registrar's Office at
least one month prior to their intended return date. Re-enrollment is contingent upon
meeting current program requirements and clearance of any financial holds.

Student Withdrawal
- Voluntary Withdrawal:
Students who decide to permanently leave NUSOD must
submit a formal withdrawal request to the Registrar's Office.
- Process:
- The withdrawal form should be completed, indicating the reason for withdrawal
and the effective date.
- Students are encouraged to consult with their academic advisor and the financial
aid office to understand the implications of withdrawal.
- Financial Implications:
Withdrawing students should settle any outstanding financial
obligations and understand the refund policy as it applies to their withdrawal date.
- Return to Study:
Students who withdraw but later wish to return to NUSOD must
reapply for admission through the standard admissions process. Previous attendance does
not guarantee readmission.
