Non-Discrimination Policy and Procedures

Nucleus University School of Dentistry Aruba (NUSOD) is committed to creating and maintaining
a community where all individuals who participate in university programs and activities can work
and learn together in an atmosphere free of all forms of discrimination and harassment. This includes, but is not limited to, discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national
origin, age, disability, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression,
genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.

Scope
This policy applies to all students, faculty, staff, and third parties within the university’s programs
and activities, on and off campus. The prohibition against discrimination is applicable not only to
academic programs but also to all university-sponsored activities, including admissions, athletics,
and employment.

Procedures
- Reporting Discrimination
- Individuals who believe they have been subjected to discrimination are encouraged
to report these incidents as promptly as possible. Reports can be made to the
Executive Dean, the Deans, Dean of Student affairs, faculty mentors, depending on
the nature of the involved parties.
- Reports can be submitted verbally or in writing. When reporting, individuals
should provide as much detail as possible, including the names of individuals
involved, witness information, and any documentary evidence.
- Investigation
- Upon receiving a report, the university will conduct a prompt, fair, and impartial
investigation. The investigation will be conducted by trained personnel and will
ensure the privacy of all parties to the extent possible.
- Both the complainant and the respondent will have equal opportunities to present
evidence, witnesses, and any other information relevant to the investigation.
- Resolution
- Upon conclusion of the investigation, a determination will be made regarding the
reported incident of discrimination. If it is determined that a violation of this policy
has occurred, appropriate corrective actions and/or sanctions will be
implemented.
- Actions taken will be aimed at stopping the discrimination, preventing its
recurrence, and remedying its effects.
- Confidentiality
- The university respects the confidentiality of all parties involved in the process of
reporting, investigating, and resolving incidents of discrimination. Information
will be disclosed only to those who have a legitimate need to know.
- Retaliation
- Retaliation against any individual who reports discrimination, participates in an
investigation, or pursues legal action is strictly prohibited and constitutes a
violation of this policy. Acts of retaliation should be reported immediately and will
result in disciplinary action.
- Prevention and Education
- NUSOD is committed to preventing discrimination through education and
awareness programs for students, faculty, and staff. These programs aim to
promote understanding and respect among all community members.
- Resources and Support
- The university provides resources and support services for individuals affected by
discrimination. These include counseling services, academic support, and
adjustments to work or academic schedules, as appropriate.
